IIW and EWF Qualifications These two qualification schemes have merged into one and the operation of the single scheme is now under the authority of the International Authorisation Board (IAB). In the medium term, both EWF and IIW diplomas will be issued but these stem from a common teaching curriculum and examination system. A number of qualifications are available:
Training and examinations conducted by TWI meet the requirements laid down by the IAB. Some of the qualifications are referred to in European standards, particularly EN719 dealing with co-ordination of welding tasks and responsibilities and are therefore expected to play a key role in assessment of competence of welding personnel at all levels. An 'Alternative Route' to the qualifications is now available to individuals who can demonstrate extensive prior learning and relevant experience. EWF continues to operate a number of its own qualification schemes but it is expected that these will eventually become part of the IAB portfolio. These include:
European Thermal Spraying Personnel The International Welding Inspection qualifications are available from TWI through a bridging arrangement with the CSWIP welding inspection qualifications.
